Featured Fabric – Moda’s Figgy Pudding

Featured Fabric – Moda’s Figgy Pudding

I thought I’d switch it up a bit today and feature a fabric, rather than a pattern or tool. Today’s featured fabric collection is Moda’s Figgy Pudding by Basic Gray, a contemporary, bright holiday print. What I love about it is that many of the individual fabrics could be used for non-holiday projects, so while it is a great print for festive Christmas items, it has uses all year. Check it out in the slideshow below.

There are a lot of wonderful patterns out that have been designed specifically with Figgy Pudding in mind, such as this Miss Rosie’s Quilt Company’s pattern (below). I love how the red and white fabric looks like peppermint candies.

The added bonus of this pattern is that Dakota Cabin Quilts (an independent quilt shop) as put together a tutorial to accompany this pattern–including a very handy tips on machine applique using invisible thread. (They also have a kit for this quilt available.)

There’s also a fun free pattern download from Moda to accompany Figgy Pudding. It’s another unique take on a holiday-themed quilt, with the stylized trees and geometric shapes. Get your free download of this pattern here.

Figgy Pudding also comes in a Charm Pack, so you could create any number of projects available at Moda Bakeshop. This Charm Button Quilt would be a fun one, as would a Christmas-y interpretation of this star pillow (below).

Whatever you decide to create with Figgy Pudding, remember to shop your favorite independent quilt shop or fabric store for your fabric, patterns and tools.

I am looking for the brown/blue background for Figgy Pudding. Somehow when my quilt was cut, I was shorted and need a minimum of a fat quarter to finish up – and that will be nearly exact. Can anyone out there help me out or direct me where to buy this fabric?
